Coach Karli Virtue Stepping Down as Head Girls Volleyball Coach
The Malvern High School Volleyball program will be seeking new leadership. After 13 years as head coach of the Hornets, Karli Virtue is stepping down to focus on her family. Coach Virtue and her husband Erik just celebrated the birth of their second child, Ellie. Their son Kyler is a first grader at Malvern Elementary.
Coach Virtue celebrated her 100th win as head coach in 2019 and led the Hornets to district runner-up honors in 2014, 2016, and 2017. She was named Inter Valley Conference Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2017 and was recognized as the District Five Coach of the Year on three occasions. Coach Virtue mentored three of her past players to IVC Player of the Year Awards and has served as the District Five Coaches Association Scholarship Chair since 2017.
“I have been the head volleyball coach at Malvern since my first day as a teacher. It was a tough decision to step away from this role, but with two children under eight, I need to focus on being a mom right now. I will be there to support the Malvern Volleyball Program in any way I can, and I hope to return to coaching when my children grow older.” stated Virtue.
“I am very proud of all we have accomplished and know the Malvern volleyball program has a bright future. While I always enjoyed practice and preparation, I will miss being around the girls the most. I want to thank my husband Erik, my parents, and all my assistant coaches over the years for their great support.”
Coach Virtue will remain a Physical Education Teacher and Gifted Coordinator with Brown Local Schools.
“We greatly appreciate Coach Virtue's dedication and commitment over the past 13 seasons,” said Athletic Director Dave Tucci. “Karli Virtue is a very respected volleyball coach who did a great job mentoring and coaching our players.”
The search for a new head coach for the Malvern Girls Volleyball Program will officially begin Friday, March 15th. Interested candidates can send credentials to Athletic Director Dave Tucci at tuccida@brownlocalschools.com.
