2025 Spring Ohio State Testing

Subject: Ohio State Testing Begins April 9 – Important Information

Dear Brown Local Families,

As we approach the Ohio State Testing window, beginning on April 9, we want to share some important details regarding upcoming assessments. Attached, you will find the District State Testing Newsletter with additional information.

In the coming weeks, students will be taking a variety of state tests and assessments. All tests will be administered during school hours, typically following breakfast. It is essential that your student(s) arrive on time on their assigned testing day.

Key Testing Information:

High School Juniors and Seniors in good standing will not be required to attend school on high school testing days. Instead, they are encouraged to complete virtual college and career activities.

CCP Students are still responsible for completing their coursework on testing days. However, students taking CCP Political Science or U.S. History II must report to school for the High School Government and American History testing day.

MS/HS HDA (Online) Students are required to take all state tests in person at school on their designated testing days.

Graduation Requirements: High school students must take these state tests to graduate. They earn points based on their scores and must meet proficiency requirements in Algebra I and ELA II with a minimum score of 684.

Elementary & Middle School Students: These state test scores help identify both strengths and areas for improvement in each student’s academic progress.

Please encourage your student(s) to put forth their best effort, as their scores are a true reflection of their academic achievement. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the school at (330) 863-1355.

Thank you for your support, and we appreciate your partnership in your child’s education.

Brown Local Schools Student Success and Wellness Plan:

Brown Local Assessment Policy and Security:

Ohio’s State Tests measure how students statewide are developing the knowledge and skills described in Ohio’s Learning Standards in a selected number of subject areas. The test results also help measure each public school’s performance, which is reflected on its annual Ohio School Report Card.

Students in grades 3 through 8 and high school take Ohio’s State Tests in English language arts and mathematics. Periodically in middle and high school, these students also take state tests in science and social studies. Brown Local Test Administrators are trained and follow procedures set forth by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce. Brown Local Assessment Policies and Procedures can be found here:
