It is a Great Day to be a Malvern Hornet!

The first day of school for Brown Local Schools students and staff is fast approaching on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023.

Open House and Back to School Bash for the 2023-24 school year will be on Monday, August 21st, from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. Please come and meet your teachers, pick up elementary car passes if needed, meet your bus driver, and drop off school supplies. We will have school supplies, backpacks, fun activities, food, and many community resources available for families.

New student enrollment for all students entering the Brown Local School District can be completed online at www.brownlocalschools.com using FinalForms.  Parents/Guardians should submit each child's birth certificate, immunization record, custody papers, a copy of the last report card, two documents showing proof of residency (i.e., utility bill), and a picture identification for enrollment.

If you need assistance with enrollment, please visit the offices of Malvern Elementary (door A5) or Malvern Middle School and Malvern High School (door A4). Offices will be open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. (closed noon-1 p.m. for lunch). The High School and Middle School Offices are available on August 1st, and the Elementary Office opens on August 7th.  You can also reach either office by phone at 330-863-1355. 

Malvern Elementary

By appointment, Kindergarten Readiness Assessment for first-year kindergarten students will take place Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023. Kindergarten students will be assigned staggered start dates of Thursday, August 24th, or Friday, August 25th. All kindergarten students will come together on Monday, August 28th.

Elementary school students in grades 1-5 will begin school Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023.

Elementary students arriving by car should enter from Coral Rd. and follow the drive to the back of the building. Students must exit their vehicle at the crosswalk and walk to door C2. Drivers should exit the parking lot after dropping off children; drivers should not park in the driveway. Monitors will be out back at 8:10 AM. Doors will lock at 8:25 AM. After 8:25 AM, the student must be signed in tardy at the elementary office at door A5.

Elementary students should only be dropped off or picked up in the front of the building if they are signed in late or signed out early. All yellow curbs must be clear in case of an emergency. Please park in a visitor parking spot.

Elementary students riding home in cars will be dismissed at 3:10 PM to the back of the building at door C2. Elementary students picked up as car riders at the end of the day require car passes issued in the elementary office. Parents should visit the office before the first day of school to receive a pass for their car rider. Each student will receive a student car rider identification card with an ID number.

Malvern Elementary School hours: Doors to the school will open at 8:10 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 8:25 a.m. Bus riders are dismissed at 3:15 p.m. Car riders are dismissed at 3:10 p.m.

Breakfast is free for all students.  Please apply for free or reduced lunch costs through our Brown Local Schools Nutrition Website. Elementary student lunches cost $2.35 this school year, and extra milk is $0.55.

Homeroom lists for Malvern Elementary School students will be posted on doors A2 by the end of the day on Friday, August 18th.

School supply lists for Malvern Elementary students are listed on the school website under the Forms and Links Tab at www.brownlocalschools.com.

Malvern Middle and High School

Sixth-grade orientation will be held on the first day of school on Wednesday, August 23rd. Parents can request an individual orientation by appointment by contacting Principal Tim Babiczuk. 

The first day of school for middle and high school will be Wednesday, August 23rd.

Class lists for homerooms will be posted for grades 6-12 by Friday, August 18th. School supply lists for middle school and high school students will also be posted and are now ready on the school website at www.brownlocalschools.com.

Breakfast is free for all students. Please apply for free or reduced lunch costs through our Brown Local Schools Nutrition Website. Middle School student lunches cost $2.50, High School lunches $2.75, and extra milk is $0.55.

Malvern Middle -School and Malvern High School students begin classes at 7:30 a.m. Students may enter the building for breakfast at 7:05 a.m. Breakfast is served until 7:30 a.m. School is dismissed at 2:25 p.m.

The buses drop off and pick up students in front of the building. Parents and guardians bringing their children to school should therefore drop off or pick up their children in front of the building using the car lane. For the safety of all children, parents and guardians are asked not to drop off or pick up students in the back of the school building because high-school student drivers are arriving and leaving from that area simultaneously.

Parking permits for high school students driving to school will be sold beginning Monday, August 14th, for $15 each. The student will need a signed permission form, payment, driver's license, and proof of insurance to receive a parking permit.
